TATA HARRIER: EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW




Tata Motors has finally unveiled its much-awaited H5X concept-based sports utility vehicle (SUV) - the Harrier, which will be launched in January 2019.

After multiple teasers and a full exterior reveal of the car, the automaker has finally pulled the wraps on the specifications, dimensions and features list of Harrier.

It promises a lot on the lines of technology that will set the Harrier apart from other contending vehicles like the Hyundai Creta, Renault Captur, Jeep Compass and the upcoming Nissan Kicks.

Ahead of its launch soon, here's look at the dimensions, engine specifications and features on the new Tata Harrier.


Dimensions



The Tata Harrier is based on OMEGARC (Optimal Modular Efficient Global Advanced Architecture) that has been co-developed by Tata and Jaguar Land Rover.

The new modular architecture is a derivative of Land Rover D8 platform and has been designed to optimise rear seat legroom on the SUV.

The result of this has been a size measuring 4,598 mm in length, 1,894 mm in width and 1,706 mm in height.


The wheel base of the new Tata Harrier stands at 2,741 mm and a decent ground clearance of 205 mm. The SUV will ride on 235/65 R-16 tyres and has a fuel tank of 50 litres.



Engine



The Harrier is powered by a 2.0-litre, Kryotec, 4-cylinder diesel engine, and has a capacity of churning out a maximum power of 140 PS and 350 Nm torque at its peak.

Though the vehicle comes with a front-wheel drive layout, it is also programmed with multiple modes to help the car adapt to different terrains.

The SUV will come with three driving modes - City, Eco and Sport, while there will be the Terrain Response System available as well with Normal, Rough and Wet modes.


Features



Tata has prepared a comprehensive list of features to be offered on the new Harrier SUV. This will include:

  • ·         Cooled storage spaces
  • ·         8.8 inch touch screen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay
  • ·         9-speaker JBL sound system, push button start/ stop
  • ·         8-way adjusted driver seat
  • ·         4-way adjusted co-driver seat
  • ·         Rear AC vents
  • ·         Puddle lamps
  • ·         Keyless entry
  • ·         7.0 inch MID display and more


The new Tata Harrier will be offered with three-point seatbelts with pre-tensioners with seat belt reminder for the front seats. You also get six airbags, ISOFIX seats, ABS with EBD, ESP with corner stability control, off-road ABS, traction control, Hill Hold Control, Hill Descent Control, rollover mitigation, Brake Assist and more.


Variants And Colors



The all-new Tata Harrier will be offered in four variants - XE, XM, XT and XZ. Tata will be offering the new Harrier with five colour options. We expect the Harrier to be priced between Rs 16 – 21 lakh, when it goes on sale in January 2019.
